We’re delighted to share that Layla, a pupil at Park Hall Academy, has been named Runner-Up in the Pauline Quirke Academy’s Bring Hope Home Winter Filmmaking Challenge.
Inspired by Charlie Quirke’s 140km fundraising trek for Alzheimer’s Research UK, the competition invited young people to explore what hope means to them through the power of film. Layla’s entry beautifully captured this theme with a heartfelt message about her nan’s journey with Alzheimer’s.
Her film stood out for its originality, technical skill, and emotional depth. Layla spoke openly about the small moments she treasures with her nan and her hope for a future where Alzheimer’s has a cure.
“I hope one day there’s a cure for Alzheimer’s… Until then, hope is what keeps us smiling… Hope is a part that remembers even when Nan can’t.”
The judges praised her compassion and creativity, and we couldn’t be prouder of her achievement.
Huge congratulations, Layla! Your voice and vision shine brightly.
