British Values Statement
WE ARE COMMITTED TO ACTIVELY
Promoting British Values
At St. Bart’s Multi-Academy Trust, we are committed to actively promoting British values, ensuring that our pupils leave us well-prepared for life in modern Britain.
The government highlights the importance of teaching British values in all schools. At St. Bart’s, we embrace every opportunity to instill these fundamental principles:
- Democracy
- The rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
Through the promotion of these values, our Trust and its academies aim to ensure that pupils:
- Understand the democratic process and how citizens can influence decision-making.
- Recognise the benefits of living under the rule of law and its role in maintaining a safe society.
- Understand the separation of power between the executive and the judiciary, and why it is important.
- Appreciate the accountability of institutions and the independence of the courts.
- Know that freedom of religion protects all faiths, as well as those with no faith.
- Accept that people with different religious beliefs should be respected and not discriminated against.
- Recognise the importance of identifying and challenging extremism.
We promote British values both within and beyond the classroom, embedding them at the heart of our ethos.
