St. Bart’s Rugby Development
7 March 2019
Forty children from across the Trust including Weston Junior Academy, Kingsland C.E. Academy, Knutton St Mary’s C of E Academy and St Michael’s Community Academy attended Rugby Development Training hosted by Longton Rugby Club.
The training, delivered by community coaches from Staffordshire and Cheshire RFU, focussed on tackling, rucking and mauling and attacking running.
The coaches were very impressed with the enthusiasm, attitude and behaviour of all of the children that took part, most of whom had never played the game at all.
Staffordshire RFU Community coaching co-ordinator, Simon Jones, said that he really enjoyed meeting some of our wonderful St Bart’s children and looked forward to working with us further in the next few weeks.
More sessions are being held at Longton RUFC, with a final “6 nations” festival being held at the same venue on Wednesday 13th March. It would be great to see even more of the St Bart’s family getting involved in the sessions.

Congratulations to all at Woodcroft First School for their recent Ofsted Inspection. Woodcroft First School, based in Leek, has been rated “good” by Ofsted inspectors after being told two years ago that it “required Improvement”.
For the last eight years, the team at Saint Nathaniel’s Academy has been working with pupils to develop and transform the school’s garden into a valuable, child-safe asset that is much-loved by its many pupils.
The first of March saw two new academies join the St. Bart’s family – Whitchurch CE Infant and Nursery Academy and Whitchurch CE Junior Academy.
